Windham Public Schools

On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the Board of Education voted to approve my recommendations to close Windham Center School at the end of the 2024-2025 school year, and to return the 5th graders to Windham Middle School for the 2025-2026 school year.

These were extremely difficult decisions, but are necessary given our increased operational costs, declining enrollment and our focus on providing a quality learning experience for all of Windham’s students. These changes will not occur for more than a year, but will obviously have an impact on our elementary students, staff and families.

To this end, the district would like to start these conversations and begin answering questions about these changes in June, 2024. We will hold Informational Family Forum Sessions for those elementary grade levels impacted.

I look forward to meeting with our families and helping to support these transitions. We are also providing information about these topics here so that families may access the information as needed.
